How to create an impact in the China market

Hi,
I'm currently in my fourth year at Massey University, studying for a Bachelors in Design ( Honours) majoring in Visual Communication and Advertising. For my final year project, I am looking at how to improve the competitiveness of New Zealand food and beverages in the international market through branding, marketing and advertising- specifically NZ wines in China.
I'm currently in the research phase of the project and have a few questions:
1. How are New Zealand wines currently positioning themselves in the China Market?
2. Who is the main target audience?
3. What sort of marketing, advertising or branding activities have been done so far to promote New Zealand wines to China?
4. And would you consider the approach to be successful so far?
Any answers would be much appreciated!

We are not currently in the China market, but would be very interested in your findings. There was a seminar recently in Hawkes Bay to discuss this. Contact Xan Harding HB Winegrowers.

I'm currently interested in distributing NZ wine into China. I have a business partner based in china and a target area to introduce NZ wines.

I'm currently looking for NZ wineries who are interested in getting there product into china.

Hi Cece,

I have only just come across your note but if you're still pursuing your project, I may be able to help.

I also wrote a similar paper for my end of year project back in 2008 and have recently set up a specialist wine consultancy to help foreign wineries succeed in the Chinese market.

If you want some pointers in the areas you mention, please do not hesitate to send me an email at nick@chinawinesolutions.com.

Cheers and good luck!
Nick
