NZ Cabernet Merlot Forum 6th and 7th November 2008
The inaugural NZ Cabernet Merlot Forum will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 6th November and Friday 7th November this year at the Hawkes Bay Opera House. Designed to act as a centre of excellence, the event will include case studies, trade perspectives, history and tastings of international comparative wines with the Cabernet Merlot category, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and blended red wines.
Targeted at national producers and growers alongside interested trade and media, the forum aims to build a brand premium for NZ Cabernet Merlot while promoting the varieties to a national and international audience.
Speakers confirmed include;

Central Otago Pinot Celebration 2009
The mountains, lakes and valleys of New Zealand’s most picturesque wine region beckons all Pinot Noir addicts to the seventh Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration. Central Otago’s winemakers invite you to help them celebrate all things Pinot Noir this coming January 2009.
Since its inception in 2000, the Central Otago Pinot Noir Celebration has quickly established itself as one of New Zealand’s premier wine events, and a not to be missed date on the international Pinot Noir calendar. The Celebration brings together the wine world’s leading writers, such as Jancis Robinson and Neal Martin next year, together with wine and food enthusiasts to experience Central Otago’s best wine, cuisine and sights.
The Celebration will be held over two full days on the 30th and 31th January 2009. The programme is a balanced mix of informal and formal events in a relaxed, non-competitive and casual atmosphere – all hallmarks of the Central Otago experience. Pinot Noir is the highlight, with an emphasis on tasting and learning about this wonderful variety from its oldest vineyards to some of the newest.
