Wine Marlborough/NZ-UK Link Foundation/John Avery Scholarship 2012
In 2009 Wine Marlborough and the NZ-UK Link Foundation, together with John Avery MW, agreed to establish an annual wine industry scholarship, whereby, in alternate years, firstly a wine industry professional from the Marlborough region of New Zealand would travel to the United Kingdom to study the United Kingdom wine business, and the next year a wine industry professional from the United Kingdom would visit New Zealand to study the Marlborough wine industry.
In 2012 the scholarship will be awarded to a wine industry professional from the United Kingdom who will be selected by a Scholarship Panel comprising representatives from the wine industry in the UK, from the NZ-UK Link Foundation, and Mr John Avery or his representative.
The purpose of the scholarship is to increase mutual understanding of the wine industry in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom by each country’s wine growers and marketers, while at the same time furthering the education and development of wine industry professionals who demonstrate potential as leaders in their respective wine industries.
The scholarship covers the recipient’s economy return airfare, transfers, pre-approved New Zealand domestic travel, and accommodation and a pre-approved living allowance while participating in the programme.
The scholarship programme will comprise a diversity of experiences in the Marlborough wine region that are detailed further in the downloadable documents.
