Matahiwi Estate and Alexia are a portfolio of high quality wines from the Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay. Alastair Scott planted the Wairarapa vineyard, after meeting Jane Cooper in 1999. Jane launched her own label in 2000 in memory of Alexia, her maternal grandmother. Jane’s winemaking philosophy is simple: the wines must reflect the qualities of the vineyard, allow the purity of fruit flavours to shine through and have good palate length and texture.
SWNZ accredited; homegrown mulches and products made from seaweeds and humic acids replace hard fertilisers. Sheep wander among the vines in winter.
