New Zealand Wine Cellars, (formerly Cardmember Wines) was established in 1989 as a division of the Cellarmasters Group. Their core brand, New Zealand Wine Society, was established in 1990.
Cellarmasters is Australasia’s largest direct marketer of wine and New Zealand Wine Society services the lion’s share of NZ’s direct wine market.
They purchase product throughout the country and have a number of notable wineries produce wine exclusively for them. They also contract growers to provide the grapes to make their own wines which they export and sell nationwide, and they import a substantial quantity of wine.
