How do we ensure our workplaces are mentally resilient?

Bevan Catley from the Healthy Work Group at Massey University, recommends having strong Management Competencies for a Healthy Workplace. 

  • As a person carries out their day to day work there are sometimes “job demands” put upon them such as insecurity and conflict. These contribute to their stress levels and therefore lower productivity. 
  • However, “job resources” such as autonomy, inclusion and role clarity can help take this stress away. These not only help the wellbeing of the individual but should result in higher productivity.
  • These resources are based on:

- management commitment

- management priority

- organizational communication

- organizational participation.
