The 2019 Chardonnay and Sparkling Symposium will host 75+ international attendees, who will participate in a full day Sparkling and Chardonnay Masterclass, showcasing the best examples of these varieties, to highly targeted themes.
The Symposium festivities will commence in Gisborne on the afternoon of Thursday 31 January when the international guests alight from the charter plane which has whisked them up the North Island from Blenheim. The Welcome Dinner that evening will be held at Whakato Marae alongside a traditional Powhiri from a local group. To set the scene for this Welcome Dinner, a walk around tasting will take place for guests on arrival at Whakato. Guests will have the opportunity enjoy a collection of New Zealand Chardonnay and/or Sparkling wines poured by the brand representatives and winemakers.
The next day the guests will attend a day of educational masterclasses delving into the world of New Zealand Sparkling and Chardonnay.
On the evening of Friday 1 February, the Farewell Dinner will take place in a marquee on the Opou Homestead lawn. Guests will relish in an evening of stunning cuisine, some of New Zealand’s best wines and live music. Wineries can choose to attend this evening event too
