A Hawke’s Bay Syrah has won the New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Champion 2019 trophy, while a Hawke’s Bay winery has taken out the inaugural New Zealand Cellar Door of the Year Award. Trophies were announced at the New Zealand Wine Awards held in Blenheim last night.
The first round of trophies has been announced in the 2019 New Zealand Wine of the Year™ competition, with thirteen varietal trophies and eight regional trophies awarded.
The best of New Zealand wine will be discovered at the New Zealand Wine of the Year™ competition in October. New Zealand wineries are invited to submit their best wines for consideration now, with entries open until 6 September.
A Central Otago Pinot Noir has won the top prize at the inaugural New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Awards. The Maude Pinot Noir Central Otago 2017 won the New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Champion trophy presented by O-I New Zealand at the New Zealand Wine Awards Dinner held in Wellington.
The Varietal and Regional Trophies have been announced for the inaugural New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Awards. Thirteen varietal trophies have been awarded, with the trophies being scooped up throughout Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay and Central Otago.
Judging kicks off on 2 October 2018 for the New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Awards. It is the official national wine competition of the New Zealand wine industry, replacing the Air New Zealand Wine Awards and the Bragato Wine Awards, two of the industry’s major wine competitions.
