Organic Winegrowers NZ, BRI and NZW have teamed up to deliver a series of Visual Soil Assessment (VSA) workshops this Autumn.
Graham Shepherd, a leader in the field of soil observation will lead the workshop in your region. Graham worked as a soil scientist at Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research for over 20 years, since leaving MWLR he started his own consulting company, where he works directly with farmers and growers, and was contracted by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (part of the UN) to develop the visual soil assessment tool.
This will be a full-day workshop, with a morning classroom session and an afternoon field session, teaching growers how to assess physical, chemical and biological components of soil health in the field.
Please note the morning session is 10.00 am until 12.00 pm at Harvest Kitchen, 168 Redwood Road, Appleby 7081 and the afternoon session is from 1.00 pm until 3.00 pm at Greenhough Wines, 411 Paton Rd, RD1 Hope, Nelson, 7081
It will be a great opportunity for local winegrowers to get together and learn from an independent expert about soil health, soil management and practical soil assessment in the field.
You can visit Grahams website for further information.
The workshop is kindly supported by BioStart.
