Women in Wine

Diversity of thought strengthens the industry contributing to its continued growth and success.

Connect - Inform - Change

New Zealand Winegrowers supports women in the industry and encourages them to take up roles of leadership and governance.  The Women in Wine initiative was launched in 2017:

  • To help individual women reach their full potential and step up into leadership roles.
  • To encourage businesses within the industry to assess their diversity and inclusion culture, make changes where necessary to enable women to move into leadership roles.

Networking is very powerful. It provides opportunities for women in the industry to create valuable relationships, share successes and ideas.

Regional Women in Wine groups have been formed around the country enabling members to meet regularly and a national networking event is organised annually. The bespoke Women in Wine mentoring programme is also highlighting the benefits and importance of connecting people together.

It provides information and resources to help women upskill and reach their goals, by running educational workshops such as negotiation skills.

Diversity workshops and industry surveys encourage businesses to offer more opportunities for women to progress and step up into leadership roles as they wish

It is important to reiterate this initiative is for everyone – regardless of gender or role within the industry. All members are invited to participate, join the conversation and build networks.
