CONNECT. INFORM. CHANGE.
Women represent a large portion of the New Zealand wine industry, working in all roles and at all levels. Our industry supports and encourages diversity and inclusion, so when no women put themselves forward for the NZ Winegrowers’ Board Elections in 2016 this initiative was launched the following year to help women reach their full potential and step up into leadership roles.
Women in Wine is for everyone – regardless of gender or role within the industry. All members are invited to participate, join the conversation and build networks.
CONNECT
Networking provides opportunities to create valuable relationships, share successes and ideas. A supportive community generates confidence and leads to success for both individuals and the industry as a whole. Regional Women in Wine groups have been formed around the country enabling members to meet regularly and national networking is also supported through virtual and in person events.
INFORM
Women in Wine gathers statistics to identify any challenges which may exist for women working in our industry. This information is shared and used to set goals for change and to measure progress. WiW also provides information and resources to help women upskill and reach their goals through educational workshops.
CHANGE
By creating awareness, challenging thinking and processes, whilst keeping diversity and equality front of mind, Women in Wine generates change where needed. Organisations are encouraged to assess their structure and make changes where necessary ensuring women can thrive and step up into leadership roles.
The bespoke Women in Wine Mentoring Programme reflects all three of these.
