A Central Otago Pinot Noir has won the top prize at the inaugural New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Awards. The Maude Pinot Noir Central Otago 2017 won the New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Champion trophy presented by O-I New Zealand at the New Zealand Wine Awards Dinner held in Wellington.
The Varietal and Regional Trophies have been announced for the inaugural New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Awards. Thirteen varietal trophies have been awarded, with the trophies being scooped up throughout Marlborough, Hawke’s Bay and Central Otago.
New Zealand Winegrowers welcomes the increase in the number of seasonal workers under the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme. An increase in 1,750 RSE workers for the 2018-19 season will help support the wine industry during its peak times.
Judging kicks off on 2 October 2018 for the New Zealand Wine of the Year™ Awards. It is the official national wine competition of the New Zealand wine industry, replacing the Air New Zealand Wine Awards and the Bragato Wine Awards, two of the industry’s major wine competitions.
New Zealand Winegrowers Research Centre (NZWRC) and Lincoln University today announced that Dr Brian Jordan will be joining the NZWRC team, as Acting Head of Science to assist with the NZWRC’s establishment.
