Gisborne grape grower John Clarke has been elected chair of New Zealand Winegrowers.
Mr Clarke has more than 40 years’ experience in the grape and wine industry. A former Gisborne mayor, he has previously served for 10 years as the chairman of Gisborne Winegrowers and joined the New Zealand Winegrowers Board in 2006. He has been deputy chair since 2012.
“New Zealand Winegrowers welcomes the signing of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in Chile today for the contribution it will make to a strong New Zealand economy,” says Philip Gregan, Chief Executive Officer of New Zealand Winegrowers.
An economic report, released today, says if the brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB) establishes in New Zealand it would dramatically impact New Zealand’s gross domestic product (GDP) as well as export revenues from horticulture.
