Ata Rangi, meaning ‘dawn sky’ or ‘new beginning,’ is a small New Zealand winery with a serious reputation for Pinot Noir. Ata Rangi’s founder, Clive Paton, planted his first vines on a stony sheep paddock at the edge of the Martinborough village in 1980, becoming one of a handful of people who pioneered winegrowing in the area. Clive owns and manages Ata Rangi with his wife Phyll and sister Alison. With a skilled team in place, including dynamic winemaker Helen Masters, Clive now has more time to focus on his commitment to the conservation of New Zealand’s native trees.
The Ata Rangi Cellar Door is located in our converted original winery building, just a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Martinborough village. We welcome visitors by appointment only. Reservations are available for 2 daily sessions: 10:00am and 2:00pm; allow about an hour to an hour and a half for your visit.
