Terms and Conditions for Participating Wineries
1. DEFINITIONS
1.1 In these Rules, unless context otherwise requires:
Committee means the Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand 2027 Committee.
Event means Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand 2027.
Event Organiser means NZW or any other person or body appointed for the purposes of organising this Event.
Fee means the registration fee each Participating Winery must pay.
Industry means the New Zealand wine industry.
NZW means New Zealand Winegrowers Incorporated.
Participating Wine is a wine submitted for the purpose of the Event by a Participating Winery.
Participating Winery means a winery that registers for the Event and includes an individual winemaker, and in the case of a company, includes the relevant staff of that company, including the winemaker/s employed by that company for the purposes of the Event.
Programme means the wider Culinary and Social Programme for the Event.
Rules means these Terms and Conditions for Participating Wineries for the Event.
2. ENTRY PROCEDURES, FEES AND BENEFITS
2.1 The Fee and payment schedule for each Participating Winery is set out below.

Early bird cut-off date is 31 December 2025.
The Early Bird Fee is to be paid in instalments as follows:
Deposit (non-refundable): 25% of total Fee, due December 2025
Payment 1: 25% of total Fee, due March 2026
Payment 2: 25% of total Fee, due July 2026
Payment 3: 25% of total Fee, due October 2026
The Standard Fee is to be paid in instalments as follows:
Deposit (non-refundable): 25% of total Fee, due February 2026
Payment 1: 25% of total Fee, due April 2026
Payment 2: 25% of total Fee, due July 2026
Payment 3: 25% of total Fee, due October 2026
2.2 Participating Wineries will receive the following benefits:
Delegate tickets, with access to all elements of the Event, as allocated below;
One pourer ticket, with access to assist during Participating Wineries’ brand opportunities to pour;
three Sauvignon Blanc to be shown during winery brand tastings;
Unlimited varietal and quantity of submissions for use in the culinary Programme, with submitted wines to be reviewed and selected by the Committee.

2.3 Fee payments must be made to NZW, Bank Account number 02-0152-0081428-25. Please use the Participating Winery name as the reference.
2.4 For the avoidance of doubt, and subject to compliance with these Rules, Participating Wineries will be accepted to participate in the Event upon registration. Please visit www.nzwine.com and search ‘Sauvignon Blanc 2027’ to register your wines.
2.5 If a Participating Winery wishes to withdraw from the Event, notice must be received by NZW in writing before 31 July 2026, in which case any Fee paid will be refunded less the deposit. No refund of any Fee paid will be given for withdrawal after 31 July 2026.
2.6 If a Participating Winery fails to pay the Fee (including where the Participating Winery has subsequently withdrawn its participation) within 90 days of the due date, the Event Organiser may:
a. report the Participating Winery’s non-payment; and
b. restrict that Participating Winery from participating in the Event until payment is received in full; or
c. if the Participating Winery has since cancelled its participation, restrict that Participating Winery from participating in future NZW events.
2.7 Debts outstanding after 120 days will be transferred to a debt collection company for recovery. The cost of collection may be recovered from the Participating Winery.
2.8 The Event Organiser reserves the right to cancel the Event if it, in its sole discretion, deems it necessary. The Event Organiser will not be liable for any costs or other liabilities incurred by Participating Wineries relating to the cancelled event (including, without limitation, travel and accommodation).
3. CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
3.1 Participating Wines must be made from grapes grown in New Zealand and wholly made, processed and matured in New Zealand by grape winemakers who are members of NZW.
3.2 All Participating Wines must comply with all applicable legislative requirements relating to the production, composition and labelling of wine.
3.3 Complete winemaking records as required by your Wine Standards Management Plan must have been maintained for each Participating Wine.
3.4 All Participating Wines must be taken from, and representative of, a homogeneous quantity of wine, except when showing barrel samples specifically permitted by the Committee or Event Organiser.
3.5 Entries are restricted to commercially bottled wines. Tank or barrel samples are not permitted unless specifically permitted by the Committee or Event Organiser.
3.6 All participating wineries need to be signed up and certified under:
a. Sustainable Winegrowing NZ (SWNZ);
b. BioGro-NZ;
c. AsureQuality;
d. Demeter;
e. ISO14001; or
f. any other sustainability scheme recognised by NZW or the Committee on a case-by-case basis at the time of registration.

4. PUBLICITY
4.1 Any advertising, promotion or publicity relating to the Event (together, Publicity) must not be false, misleading or deceptive, or of a nature that could cause damage to the reputation of the Event, the Event Organiser or the Industry.
4.2 In any Publicity, a Participating Winery may refer only to the Participating Wine and not (whether expressly or by implication) refer to any other wines without the prior consent of that winery.
4.3 Only official Event promotional material approved by the Event Organiser may be affixed or attached to a bottle (including, for example, labels, stickers or neck tags) to participation in the Event.
4.5 The Event may be filmed or otherwise recorded by the Event Organiser or an authorised third party, and such footage may be used for promotional purposes by the Event Organiser or that third party. Participation in the Event is deemed consent to this.
5. CONDUCT OF PARTICIPATING WINERIES
5.1 The Event is a prestigious event and Participating Wineries are expected to display a correspondingly high level of conduct during the Event. While tasting or consuming wine is an integral part of the Event, such consumption must at all times be moderate and responsible.
5.2 Participating Wineries must ensure that any service of wine (in the form of tastings or otherwise) undertaken by them is responsible and, in particular, that they seek to prevent intoxication and refuse service to minors or those who appear to be intoxicated.
5.3 Participating Wineries must comply with the licensing arrangements at Event venues.
5.4 Participating Wineries must comply with the directions and requests of the Committee and the Event Organiser. Without limitation, such directions and requests may apply to the logistical and structural set-up of the Event, the conduct of the Participating Winery and the Event programme.
5.5 The Event Organiser and the Committee reserve the right to exclude from the Event any Participating Winery who, in the reasonable opinion of the Committee or Event Organiser or their representatives:
a. appears to be intoxicated or in any way creating a disruption to the Event; or
b. has caused, or is likely to cause, any damage to the reputation of the Event, the Event Organiser or the Industry.
In this event, no part of the Fee will be refunded.
6. COMPLIANCE WITH RULES
6.1 All Participating Wines may be subject to verification of compliance with the Rules. Refusal to permit such verification may result in exclusion from the Event and forfeiture of the Fee.
6.2 Any Participating Winery found to be in breach of these Rules may be excluded from participation in the Event and the Fee forfeited.
6.3 In addition to exclusion, the Committee and the Event Organiser may impose other penalties determined necessary and reasonable, for example, exclusion from future NZW events.
7. DISPUTES
7.1 The decision of the Committee or the Event Organiser in the matter of any dispute or doubt arising from the interpretation of these Rules or in relation to the Event is final.
8. INSURANCE
8.1 The Participating Winery is solely responsible for arranging public liability insurance in respect of any loss or damage relating to the Event. For the avoidance of doubt, the Event Organiser or the Committee will not be liable for any loss or damage caused or incurred in relation to the Event.
8.2 Participating Wineries should consider what they are responsible for in terms of stock insurance and that both freight companies and organisers may have ‘limits of liability’ clauses on individual bottles which means they will only pay a percentage of the value of a bottle. An ‘all risks’ policy to cover end to end is recommended.
