North Canterbury
THE BONELINE is our watercourse to strange pasts - The river and the permeated landscape - The charcoal poem of ancient bones - The fossil's hieroglyph - A deep and local telepathy of watercourse and strata - Wine grown on the shoulders of giants - made here with humility and heart. Named to reference the nearby K-T Boundary Line that evidences the global catastrophe of an asteroid impact on Earth, the end of the Mesozoic Era and the extinction of the dinosaurs. Our wines' labels feature fossils discovered in the Waipara River dating back as far as 65 millionyears.
A working winery – what you see is what goes on! You are welcome to taste and discuss wine with us in our winery and hang out in our lovely winery garden – a Garden of Versailles of native plants / an ode to cabbage trees. We focus on growing & making wine foremost, so we aren’t too fancy. The surrounding landscape dwarfs human efforts! VINEYARD WALKWAY - 1 hour (2.1km) open with cellar door 1-4pm weekends, and otherwise by guided tasting tours by appointment - spectacular views over our lower terrace amphitheatre vineyards unseen from the road. Wine & vine signage along the way to keep you informed and entertained. Cellar door hours - 7 days - 11am - 4pm Vineyard Walkway - weekends - 11am - 4pm
