Bringing the genuine essence and spirit of Aotearoa New Zealand through the treasure that is Tiki Wines, we are a whānau (family) owned business, founded by Royce and Sue McKean. Based in Waipara, within the North Canterbury Wine Region of Aotearoa (New Zealand), the name Tiki was chosen in honour of Royce’s great-great-great grandfather, Ngati Uenuku Māori Chieftain Tiki Tere Mihi. Also a hand crafted taonga (treasure) of New Zealand, the Tiki, when gifted, bestows good fortune and love on others. It is with that same care and spirit that we make our wines.
Tiki Wine & Vineyards is committed to sustainable winegrowing and regenerative agriculture, working with the environment to ensure we enhance quality and continue to produce award winning wines. We care for our vines under the guiding Māori principles of kaitiakitanga – the guardianship, protection, and preservation of the earth for future generations.
We are a founding member of TUKU, the world’s first Māori Winemaker’s Collective, which not only certifies the authenticity of Māori ownership within the group, but together shares the values of kaitiakitanga (guardianship), whānau (family) and manaakitanga (hospitality).
Tiki Wine & Vineyards – producing the style of wines that Tiki fans are enjoying here in Aotearoa and all over the world.
