Our Sustainability Focus

New Zealand Wine has six sustainability focus areas that cover what is most important to our industry, environment and people; Water, Waste, Pest and Disease, Soil, Climate Change and People.

These industry goals align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed in 2015. The UN SDGs are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all, as they seek to mobilize global efforts around a common set of targets.

These focus areas encapsulate the areas of sustainability that are most relevant for our industry and are where we have the greatest ability to make a positive impact. Find out more about each goal by clicking on it

Talk is not enough.

It’s through these goals that our industry demonstrates its commitment to protecting the places that make our famous wines. It is important that all members measure their progress towards these goals so that they can improve the sustainability of their businesses.

Members are independently audited on these goals. No matter how great our progress, there is only one response: do better next year.
