It’s an Emojency!

The world has emojis for red wine, beer, cocktails and champagne, but white wine, the most widely enjoyed wine style globally, is still missing. We think it’s time to fix that.

The WHITE WINE EMOJI has been missing from digital keyboards since the late 1990’s, and while they have been close to being captured, they remain at large.

The New Zealand wine industry needs your help!

We would like to make a submission to the Unicode Consortium on behalf of the New Zealand and global wine industry, to get the elusive emoji on our digital keyboards. By signing this petition, you can help lead to their capture.

But why doesn’t white wine have an emoji?

Emojis are how we communicate culture today - what we eat, drink and celebrate. Yet despite white wine being poured, posted and enjoyed around the world every day, there’s still no officially recognised white wine emoji.

That’s why New Zealand Winegrowers is leading a global push to change it. The White Wine Emoji campaign is about representation, participation and modern wine culture - not brands, not regions, just white wine finally getting its moment.

Or, as we like to say: it’s an emojency.
