Re-vitalisation of the understory by the removal of all Nitrate fertilisers, balanced soil nutrition and stimulation of the biology.
A 3 year trial in two 23 year old established Marlborough vineyards that have been in decline due to increased incidence of Eutypa and vine death as a result. The goal being to investigate the link between high Nitrate use undervine in the form of fertigated or side dressed nitrate based synthetic fertilisers commonly used in grapes. The synthetic fertilisers were replaced with fertilisers and bio-stimulants designed to stimulate biological activity and support higher root growth that also translates into better vine health and balance.
