A fourth-generation farmer, horticulturist and conservationist, Denis Marshall and his partner Ulrike Kurenbach create Central Otago Wines with integrity and charm.
The vineyard is named after Denis’s ancestor, naturalist William Swainson. He settled in New Zealand 1841 and named his homestead ‘Hawkshead’. William Swainson’s beautiful bird drawings grace now the Hawkshead wine labels.
Denis and Ulrike ‘grow’ their wine. They work and live on their vineyard and know every grapevine personally. ‘Hawkshead’ creates Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Rosé with Central Otago intensity and clarity.
Finalist in the 2019 Cellar Door of the Year, Kinross invites you to discover Hawkshead artisan wines alongside five premium Central Otago brands. Visitors can taste, explore and purchase these iconic New Zealand Wines daily from 10am - 6pm. Bookings preferred for groups over 8 people.
