Founded in 1864 by Frenchman Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo Winery is the birthplace of Central Otago wine. From the pioneering vision of J.D. Féraud to today’s Paris family stewardship, we carry on the legacy of this historic site while producing elegant, site-driven wines that reflect the character of our land.
Our restored historic winery is now home to a welcoming Cellar Door for wine tastings, with the option to book private experiences in the Underground Cellar or a guided educational Winery Tour for an in-depth look at wine production and our sustainable practices.
Guests can also enjoy seasonal dishes from Fritzy, our on-site food trailer, or extend their stay in one of our luxury Guest Cottages within walking distance to our Cellar Door.
Just outside Clyde and steps from the Central Otago Rail Trail, Monte Christo brings together heritage, sustainability, and warm hospitality.
Open 7 days a week, from 10am–6pm in summer, and 11am – 5pm in winter.
