Therese and Hans Herzog founded Herzog Estate in 1994 having left Switzerland in search of the world’s best terroir which they believe they found in their 11.5ha vineyard in Marlborough.
Hans, an innovative winegrower, likes to experiment with many different varieties including Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Arneis, Riesling, Viognier, Chardonnay, Grenache, Gruner Veltliner, Roussanne, Marsanne, Gewuerztraminer, Semillon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, Tempranillo, Zweigelt, Montepulciano, St Laurent, Muscat Ottonel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Saperavi, Verdelho, Lagrein and Barbera!
Hans applies traditional winegrowing methods in his handcrafted wines from the new world, committed to a non-interventional philosophy, following organic and biodynamic practices.
