Whitehaven is proudly carbon certified through the Toitū Envirocare Carbon Programme (ISO 14064). We’re working towards carbon neutrality by implementing a full carbon reduction plan — from lighter-weight glass and expanded recycling (including drip line, soft plastics, and grape marc) to more efficient tractors and smarter energy use. Where emissions can’t yet be reduced, we’ll bridge the gap using carbon credits from New Zealand-based projects. By 2030, we’re planning for 100% of our offsets to come from our own company projects, including establishing a native forest at The Springs (600ha dedicated to natives). Once established this significant native forest will sequester significantly more than our carbon footprint.
