At Whitehaven, being 100% Marlborough means more than where our grapes grow—it’s how we show up for the region we’re proud to call home. Advocacy for Marlborough and giving back to the people who make it special sits at the heart of what we do.
We’re committed to building a workplace where everyone belongs. Through our membership of Diversity Works New Zealand and a dedicated internal committee, we actively safeguard diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across our business. We also support the employment of individuals with disabilities through company-based restoration projects—creating meaningful opportunities while contributing to the land we all share.
Our community support is wide-reaching and deeply local. We sponsor programmes that strengthen Marlborough’s arts, community and talented youth, including our full theatre sponsorship of the Whitehaven Theatre Marlborough — a nationally recognised performing arts asset and one the region can be proud of. Regional initiatives like the Whitehaven Marlborough Golf Pro Am and our partnership with the Inspire Foundation are important ways we invest back into Marlborough’s future.
Nationally, we champion creativity too, proudly supporting the arts as a Bronze Sponsor of New Zealand Opera.
Sustainability is another pillar of our purpose. Whitehaven’s long-term partnership with LegaSea reflects our commitment to protecting and restoring New Zealand’s marine environments—and to continually investigating and demonstrating more sustainable ways of operating. In 2017, we joined forces with LegaSea in a major initiative that led to Kōparepare—a wine label whose name means a gift or contribution. With every bottle sold, we donate to support the LegaSea cause.
And because we’re family-owned, we understand the value of community. That’s why we actively and regularly support local groups, charities, sports clubs and schools—backing other families, and the people who back us.
